We’re passionate about supporting people with experience of mental illness or addictions – we’ve been dedicated to it for more than 30 years.
Our vacancy is for a part-time position, working 20 hours a week, Monday and Friday, 1.00pm to 5pm at our crisis respite service in Christchurch.
As a Support Worker in our acute crisis respite team, you will be kept busy supporting working with people in during their recovery by teaching them supporting them to develop strategies to improve or and manage their well-being. Duties will also include provide a listening ear; maintaining the home; host liaising with clinical teams and supporting guests with medication.
You’ll be reporting to the Team Coach and joining our Pathways Crisis Respite team in Christchurch, this is a service for guests who are experiencing decreased mental wellness, in a community setting and working in a team of Support Workers – all with a common purpose to support people experiencing mental illness.
We are interested to hear from people who have a caring nature and work in a recovery and trauma informed way, you will be able to provide medication support for our people and have impeccable attention to detail. Experience in mental health is preferred but you will also have:
- Applicants must hold the New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (NZCHW) Level 4 or a recognised equivalent, or have already commenced study towards Level 4 Certificate.
- Experience working in Crisis Respite setting
- You must hold a current full driver licence
- Hold a current first aid certificate or be willing to obtain one within 3 months of employment
- You’ll enjoy being part of the team and be excellent in building relationships
- You’ll be flexible and have positive approach when dealing with challenging behaviours
