Support Worker - Awake night shifts

We have a part-time vacancy in one of our residential services, based in Thames. This role is 56 hours per fortnight, working an awake night shift on a weekly rotating roster;

Week 1: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, 11.00pm- 7.30am

Week 2: Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, 11.00pm- 7.30am

As a support worker on the awake night shift, you will be providing support for service users throughout the evening, as well as being there to provide any support needed during the night. While the people you support are asleep, you will be kept busy with other tasks like cleaning and supporting the day shifts with maintaining things like filing, first aid kits, emergency kits and preparation of paperwork.

The Team

You’ll be reporting to the Team Coach and joining our Pathways Hauraki residential service in Thames. You will be working in a team of support workers – all with a common purpose to support people experiencing mental illness.


We are interested to hear from people who have a caring nature and work in a recovery focused way, you will be able to provide medication support for our people and have impeccable attention to detail.

  • You must hold a current full driver’s licence.
  • You must hold a current first aid certificate or be willing to obtain one.
  • Applicants must hold the New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (NZCHW) or a recognised equivalent. Alternatively, you will be willing to commence study towards this within six months of starting your employment with Pathways. (This needs to be completed within two years of commencement. Pathways offers significant support for support workers to complete this study)
