Support Worker - Intensive Youth Service

Brackenridge is a not-for-profit organisation that provides support to children, young people and adults with learning disabilities and autism and their families in Canterbury. At the core of our practice philosophy is our belief in all people and the rights of all to live in and be part of the community, and to exercise citizenship.

This role requires experience in working with high and complex needs children and young people, learning disability and/ or in mental health. The purpose of the role will be to provide support to a young person with multiple diagnosis and challenging behaviour in an intensive single service.

We are looking for someone with a proven track record of experience in working with youth who present with behavioural challenges and have a thorough knowledge and training in Autism and working within a non-aversive approach.

Your skills in building relationships will be key when working with the children and young people we support and their whanau/families. We will be asking you to use your valuable experience and skills to support individuals or a small group of people by creating a safe and supportive environment in which they can flourish.

Empathy, flexibility, and openness to think innovatively and act quickly and with a strong client focus is highly desirable as is the ability to influence others through effective communication and technical skills.

This position would best suit someone with high energy, enthusiasm, and resilience, who shares our passion to enable the best life that is possible for the children and young people we support.

The nature of this work can be highly challenging.

You will be joining a small dedicated and supportive team and you will spend most of your time in the community. Brackenridge will provide learning and development opportunities related to the position.
