Ā mātou rōpū (About our team)

Live Life Disability Support (LLDS) provide support to people who have disabilities to achieve their personal aspirations and choices. LLDS provides support to over 250 people in a variety of residential and respite settings across the Nelson/Tasman and Marlborough regions.

We support each person to manage their day to day lives in ways and at times that work for them. The people we support have a wide range of abilities and challenges. Some people need support with their personal care and taking care of household tasks; some need support to participate and go out-and-about and join in social and leisure activities; and some need communication and behavioural support.

We actively encourage people to pursue their dreams and try out new experiences, and can guarantee that no two days working at LLDS are ever the same.

N.B. Disability Support Services are part of Nelson Marlborough Health, we are not however a medical/clinical service. We are a community based disability support service focused on quality of life outcomes and the Enabling Good Lives Principles.

Ngā mōhiohio e pā ana ki tēnei mahi (About this position)

We have a number of permanent part-time positions available working a range of shifts and hours including the following:

  • 0.4FTE working 32 hours a fortnight. Shift: 7AM to 3:30PM Friday and Saturday
  • 0.375FTE working 30 hours a fortnight. Shift:7AM to 3PM Saturday and Sunday
  • 0.3125FTE working 25 hours a fortnight. Shift: 3:30PM to 8:30PM. Roster: Week one: Saturday and Sunday. Week two: Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
  • 0.3125FTE working 25 hours a fortnight. Shift 3:30PM to 8:30PM. Roster: Week one: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. Week two: Saturday and Sunday
  • 0.425FTE working 34 hours a fortnight. Shift: 7AM to 3:30PM every Saturday and Sunday
  • 0.4FTE working 32 hours a fortnight. Shift: 8AM to 4PM every Saturday and Sunday
  • 0.56FTE working 45 hours a fortnight plus two sleepovers* Week one: 3:30PM -10PM Saturday and Sunday plus Sleepovers 10PM-7AM. Week two: 7AM-3:30PM Tue, Wed, Fri and Saturday

You will be asked to indicate your availability and preferences in your application form, and you're welcome to attach a covering letter where you can identify any of the above positions that you're particularly interested in.

You will have a can-do attitude and be able to work with adults as part of a proactive team, in a supported living environment. You will follow individual plans and understand the importance of consistency in assisting people to achieve a great life.

We're looking for people from all walks of life who have the following:

  • Have a sense of humour, energy and enthusiasm
  • Are patient and kind, friendly and helpful
  • Have good social skills and the ability to relate well to others
  • Have the ability to understand non-verbal behaviours
  • Have good written and spoken language skills in English and/or Te Reo
  • Have basic maths and computing knowledge
  • Have confidence in assisting with personal cares
  • A current full NZ driver's licence (confident driving both automatic and manual vehicles)
  • NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level two to four) or equivalent is preferred, or the willingness to complete this level of study in the workplace

Your hourly rate will be $21.50 to $27.00 an hour dependent upon your qualifications as recognised under the Care and Support Workers (Pay Equity) Settlement Act 2017.

*N.B. Sleepovers are paid at the minimum adult wage rate.

This position is classified by Immigration as ANZSCO 423111 and applicants for this position must be NZ or Australian Citizens, or have NZ Permanent Residency, or a valid NZ work visa.

Appointment and ongoing employment will be conditional upon criminal record/police checks - you must declare any convictions and/or pending charges on your application form. This will include checks under the Children Act 2014.

For the health and safety of both staff and patients, and in line with the Health Order, all NMH staff are required to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19, including boosters.
