Support Worker – Youth Residential – Full Time / Permanent

The Odyssey Youth Programme is for young people aged 13 to 17 years, who have alcohol, drug or gambling addiction issues.  Some also have mental health needs, care and protection or youth justice issues.

We are now seeking a skilled and caring full time Support Worker to work 40 hours per week on a rostered basis including evenings and weekend work.

We provide a residential programme based in Mt Albert that includes a therapeutic community environment; evidence based interventions, a structured daily routine and education with NCEA credits. Youth Support Workers support Youth Practitioners to provide therapeutic interventions with young people and their families.

The ideal applicant will have:

  • Minimum qualification required is a Level 4 Certificate in Health or related field
  • Previous Support or Youth Worker experience
  • A passion to work with young people and their families
  • Excellent engagement, communication and motivational skills
  • Networking, problem-solving and organisational skills
  • Knowledge of youth development and of addiction issues
  • Social and cultural awareness, in particular Maori, Pacifica and other cultures
  • Commitment to the Treaty of Waitangi
  • A willingness to embrace the therapeutic community mode and participate fully in all Youth cultural activities
  • A full, clean Driver Licence
