Team Coach - Registered Health Professional

Lead a caring and skilled team and provide innovative support to people experiencing mental health and addiction issues living in the community


We have a position available for an inspirational leader to join one of our Pathways services in Christchurch. This role is in the Community Services and Leadership Team Otautahi and supports people that require some innovative ways of working. If you have an interest in work that helps some of our most vulnerable people in our community, then this role could be right for you. You will ensure optimum use of resources for the team while making sure our service is the very best it can be.

We are looking for a Team Coach who is a Registered Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Social Worker with team leadership experience and scope to work within Mental Health and Addictions to join our Pathways service in Christchurch.

This is a Monday to Friday position, 8:30am to 5:00pm, 40 hours a week with an after-hours on-call requirement based on a rotational roster.

The Team

You will be reporting to the Service and Relationship Manager and lead a team of Support Workers and Registered Health Professionals – all with a common purpose to support people experiencing periods of unwellness - sometimes both physically and mentally. The aim is to assist people to access their needs and to connect with their community and support systems while living in their own homes. You will provide leadership and regular coaching to staff and be focused on inspiring every member of your team to exceed their personal best and to be an active team contributor. You will also participate as a leadership team member working alongside the Service and Relationship Manager and your colleagues to ensure optimum service delivery.


You’ll be an experienced leader who has proven your ability to inspire and bring out the best in your team. You’ll also have demonstrated the ability to work well with other services such as DHBs, PHOs, NGO’s and the wider community and social sector. You’ll also be optimistic, energising and a fresh thinker – using curiosity and imagination to generate new ideas.

You’ll need to have a:

  • You’ll need to have experience within the mental health and addictions services and knowledge of the Canterbury sector
  • Current New Zealand professional registration with scope to work in mental health and addiction
  • Current full New Zealand driver’s licence
  • Current first aid certificate (or be willing to obtain one)
  • You’ll have good verbal, written and IT communication skills with the ability to connect with a wide range of people from various backgrounds and cultures and have a motivating attitude and approach.

The Covid-19 Public Health Response (Vaccinations) Order 2021 requires staff working in health-related services to be fully vaccinated (this includes any subsequent boosters).
