Team Coach - Registered Health Professional

We’re looking for an inspirational and skilled leader to join our Pathways North Taranaki Residential Service, based in Vogeltown, New Plymouth as a Team Coach.

This is a full-time position working Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.00pm. Additionally, you will be part of a rotating after hours on-call roster.

You will ensure the efficient and effective use of resources for the team while fostering innovation and improvement to ensure our service offering is the best it can be. You will be part of the Northern and Taranaki leadership team and be reporting to the Service and Relationship Manager. You will be leading a team of Support Workers and provide regular coaching and be focused on inspiring every member of your team to exceed their personal best in everything they do.

The Team

You’ll be reporting to the Service and Relationship Manager and leading a team of Support Workers working at one of our residential sites to provide responsive support to people living in their own units. You will be helping those people we support to become independent in their living. This service supports people to ultimately gain the skills to live well in the community of their choice. We have a friendly, supportive and diverse team environment, where a good sense of humor is essential.


You will have clinical work experience in working in mental health and addiction settings. You will also have leadership experience and will be able to unite and motivate a team through your positive, energetic and organised leadership. As well as having great leadership and people skills, you’ll also have demonstrated the ability to work well within the residential setting, and the wider community and social sector such as DHBs, PHOs, other NGOs to implement personalised plans.

You are a strategic thinker, who is confident using data to inform decisions, has great computer literacy and experience with report writing.

Our ideal candidate:

  • A Registered Health Professional with a current practicing certificate (Nurse/Occupational Therapist/ Social Worker) with ability to work within mental health
  • Minimum two years of relevant experience in Mental health and addictions environment
  • Leadership experience with excellent interpersonal, skills, problem-solving abilities and the ability to challenge, inspire, influence, and coach your team.
  • Ability to work well with other services such as DHBs, PHOs, and the wider community and social sector.
  • Strong commitment to a recovery focused framework.
  • Ability to develop and sustain working relationships with key stakeholders.
  • A demonstrated ability and cultural competence in working with Māori.
  • A current New Zealand first aid certificate or be prepared to obtain one.
  • A current full New Zealand drivers license.
  • An understanding of what you need for your own wellbeing.

The Covid-19 Public Health Response (Vaccinations) Order 2021 requires staff working in health-related services to be fully vaccinated (this includes any subsequent boosters).
