Youth Forensic Case Manager - CAMHS, Nelson

  • Fixed-term 0.5FTE position for 12 months
  • Make a difference working with young people and their family and whanau
  • Registered Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Social Worker with three years relevant experience

Ngā mōhiohio e pā hānga ki tēnei mahi (About this position)

Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) is a regional service for children and youth with serious mental health disorders up to aged 18 years. Our multi-disciplinary team is made up of psychiatrists, mental health nurses, psychologists, occupational therapists and social workers, all trained in a range of treatment modalities.

We are looking for a Youth Forensic Case Manager to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term basis, working 40 hours a fortnight (0.5FTE). In this role you will screen and assess youth who have offended and are affected by mental health, or alcohol and other drugs related issues. You will facilitate access to services for young people and develop comprehensive treatment and care plans. This is important work and we can't do it alone. A big part of this role is working with other agencies and providers to offer a wrap-around service to our young people.

Ko wai he kaitono tōtika? (Who is an appropriate applicant?)

You will be a registered social worker, occupational therapist or nurse with at least three years' experience within a CAMHS or acute mental health setting. You will be experienced in working with young people and you will be up to date with current research relating to mental health and also trends in youth offending. You will have a background in delivering comprehensive assessments and evidence based interventions for youth.

Whilst we are looking for experienced practitioners we recruit primarily for attitude. You will need to fit into a cohesive team culture of collaborative practice, openness, humour, and respect across disciplines and will engender confidence, trust and rapport with clients, their support networks and other agencies and service providers.
