Matua Raḵi April 2016 newsletter

Real Skills is a free, online self-assessment tool for people and organisations in the mental health, addiction and disability sectors. Real Skills collects together existing knowledge and skills frameworks in one place and provides an easy-to-use approach to self-assessment, team assessment and workforce development planning. Current frameworks included are Let’s get real, Let’s get real: Disability, Te Whare o Tiki: co-existing problems knowledge and skills framework and the Competencies for the mental health and addiction service user, consumer and peer workforce.

Following a pilot phase with a few organisations, Real Skills will be available to organisations who are interested. Once signed up, individuals within the organisation will be able to carry out a self-assessment against any of the frameworks and download a summary report to assist with professional development plans. When whole teams carry out self-assessments this information is aggregated into team summary reports that can provide priorities for workforce development initiatives.

Te Pou and Matua Raki developed Real Skills to be flexible enough for organisations to use within existing organisational development processes.

Keep an eye on our addiction sector noticeboard for updates (click here to sign up) or contact ashley.koning@matuaraki.org.nz if you have any questions.
