Supervision skills training for Advanced Health Improvement Practitioners

About the course

The training is supervision skills for advanced HIPs and is being delivered by Aly McNicoll from The New Zealand Coaching and Mentoring Centre, an expert in coaching and mentoring. This programme of learning is for advanced HIPs that are either currently or will be able to provide professional supervision.

This supervision training aims to inform advanced HIPs on models of supervision, to supervise HIPs and/or other roles within IPMHA who services in their organisation and/or district. There is no requirement by Te Pou to be available to provide supervision to other districts or as nationally unless this is something that is agreed between different organisations or collaboratives.

This training is delivered in two parts via Zoom:

Firstly, a two-day course in Supervision skills delivered over one week:

  • Session 1 – Tuesday 20th February 2024 – 9:00am to 4:00pm
  • Session 2 – Tuesday 27th February 2024 - 9:00am to 4:00pm
The second part of the training is a half-day course on the application of the peer supervision model:
  • Session 3 – Tuesday 26th March 2024 - 9:00am to 1:00pm

Advanced HIPs must be available for these three separate days, without interruptions, have access to their own device with reliable internet and approval from your manager to attend.

This is a Level 5 NZQA course – with 5 credits (micro credentialed). There is a commitment to a practical assignment and readings. The peer supervision component is a tool kit for peer supervision which is an effective model of support.

Managers and Leaders will be able to submit an expression of interest on behalf of their Advanced HIPs. Places are limited to 20 and will be allocated to ensure a geographical mix across the IPMHA collaboratives. The registration will close on January 19, 2024, and places will be confirmed by January 26, 2024.
