Janet Peters

New Zealand liaison for the International Initiative for Mental Health Leadership

The International Initiative for Mental Health Leadership (IIMHL) and the International Initiative for Disability Leadership (IIDL) are international learning collaboratives for mental health, addiction and disability leaders.

IIMHL and IIDL help leaders connect, share knowledge, and apply innovations to improve services. IIMHL and IIDL are government funded initiatives. Eight countries participate in IIMHL: New Zealand, USA, England, Scotland, Republic of Ireland, Canada, Sweden and Australia. The Netherlands will join in 2019.

New Zealand is a founding member of IIMHL. Te Pou funds Janet Peters to work on planning, liaison and evaluation for IIMHL.

Janet is a registered psychologist and works five days a month for IIMHL and is based in Tauranga.

Janet has worked in the mental health sector for more than 30 years and has held national roles (e.g. first National Manager of Like Minds Like Mine and the Mental Health Research & Development Strategy).
