Te Reo Hāpai – The Language of Enrichment
Tihe Mouriora!
E mihi ana rā
Based at Kākāriki House in Hamilton but hailing from Taranaki, my iwi are Te Atiawa, Ngāti Ruanui (Taranaki), Waiohua (Auckland), Ngāti Te Ata (Waikato) and Ngāti Porou (East Coast).
My experience is predominately in education and I have been teaching te reo Māori and tikanga Māori since I was a teenager.
I am a licensed interpreter and have a Master’s Degree in Mātauranga Māori (Māori Knowledge).
My role at Te Pou o te Whakaaro Nui is to continue developing Te Reo Hāpai, a glossary of Māori language terms used in the mental health, addiction and disability sectors.
Ka nui te mihi ki tēnā, ki tēnā. Tēnā tātou katoa!
