Strengthening the evidence base

Improving the evidence base for the mental health and addiction sector by using expert researchers, expert clinicians and service user experience.

Te Pou o Te Whakaaro Nui is a national centre of evidence based workforce development for the mental health, addiction and disability sectors in New Zealand.

Evidence based means “the integration of the best research evidence with clinical expertise and patient values” (Institute of Medicine, 2001).

Te Pou is working to improve the evidence base for the mental health and addiction sector by using expert researchers, expert clinicians and service user experience. This means decisions are based on credible information, and we ensure what we promote to the sector is effective.
