We are now looking to recruit a permanent, full time Kaiārahi Māori - Cultural Lead working Monday to Friday, 8.30am – 5.00pm to join our dynamic team at Youth INtact. Based at our community service hub in central Hamilton, you will be responsible for leading, developing and delivering culturally responsive programmes to support rangatahi in schools and community settings across the Waikato in conjunction with members of Youth INTact’s multi-disciplinary team. You will also be helping to embed Te Tiriti o Waitangi into service delivery by supporting mana enhancing ways of working that provide equitable outcomes for Māori rangatahi and their whānau. As a part of your responsibilities, you will also build and maintain relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders to support the effective delivery of the Waikato Youth Intact service.
Our ideal candidate will have:
- Experience in Mātauranga Māori, including experience of working with kaumātua/kuia, rangatahi and/or pakeke/adults in the addictions and/or mental health sectors.
- Knowledge and experience of sharing Mātauranga Māori, tikanga Māori, including mihi whakatau/whaikōrero or karanga, kapa haka, te reo and/or marae protocol.
- Fluency in te reo Māori and the ability to teach and explain aspects of te reo to others.
- Passion and motivation to work with rangatahi.
- Experience with leading, developing and delivering cultural programmes.
- Experience with completing cultural assessments for rangathi Māori and Pasifika.
- Experience working within a dynamic team.
- Full driver’s license.

- A salary between $78,686 - $86,736 depending on experience.

Waikato Youth INtact is an innovative service provider that supports rangatahi who are experiencing alcohol and/or other drug use challenges in the Waikato region. We offer easily accessible community-based assessment and treatment services that are wraparound, holistic and culturally responsive.
Waikato Youth INtact supports rangatahi and their whānau in Hamilton, Te Awamutu, Cambridge, Morrinsville, Matamata, Ngaruawahia, Huntly, Raglan and Te Kauwhata. There will be a mixture of school clinics and community-based services, depending on the community.
