He aha te tūranga - About the role

As they continue to expand their support for tangata whaiora, our client is seeking x3 Registered Nurses (Tahuri Rēhita) to join their Integrated Health Services team, based in Waitākere and Central Auckland. This full-time role supports whaiora navigating mental health and addiction challenges, providing culturally responsive clinical care for individuals facing complex mental health and addiction challenges and wraparound support aligned with whaiora goals.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting comprehensive mental health and addiction assessments.
  • Developing and implementing individualised care plans with whaiora and clinical teams.
  • Administering medications and monitoring their effects.
  • Providing therapeutic interventions to individuals and groups.
  • Monitoring client behaviour and mental status and responding appropriately.
  • Educating whaiora and their whānau about conditions, treatments, and recovery planning.
  • Contributing to a safe and accountable service environment that upholds Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the principles of Ngā Pou e Waru.

Ngā pūkenga, ngā tohu ōu - What you will need

  • Current Annual Practising Certificate (Nursing Council of NZ).
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
  • 2-3 years’ experience working in a mental health or addictions setting.
  • Full, clean NZ Driver’s License.
  • Strong clinical assessment and care planning skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal capability.
  • Confidence working within kaupapa Māori environments and applying cultural safety in practice.
  • Familiarity with healthcare regulations, mental health standards, and professional nursing obligations.

Desirable:

  • Postgraduate qualification or certification in Mental Health Nursing.
  • Knowledge of te reo Māori me ōna tikanga (or a willingness to learn).
