New important role for Te Pou CE Robyn Shearer

It’s with great pride we announce that Te Pou o te Whakaaro Nui Chief Executive, Robyn Shearer is taking up a new and important role as the Ministry of Health’s Deputy Director-General Mental Health and Addiction. 

Robyn has been with Te Pou o te Whakaaro Nui for over a decade and we are going to really miss her; but we are equally excited for her and the important role she will take on for our sector.

During her time, Robyn has grown Te Pou o te Whakaaro Nui to be internationally recognised for evidence-based workforce programmes in mental health, addictions and disability, and has created strong sector partnerships to enhance people’s lives through service improvement. 

Robyn’s new role will help guide the implementation of the He Ara Oranga Mental Health Inquiry report recommendations that the Government decides to prioritise.

Robyn will relocate to Wellington to start her new role and her last day with Te Pou o te Whakaaro Nui will be Friday, 25 January 2019. 

The Te Pou o te Whakaaro Nui Board have appointed Will Ward, Te Pou's National Manager Leadership and System Change as acting Chief Executive for an interim period of six months.
