In 2006, skill mix had become increasingly important for health care organisations’ capacity to provide cost effective health care. Skill mix was noted to involve achieving a balance between trained and untrained staff, qualified and unqualified, various occupational groups, and supervisory and operative staff in the context of cost and care considerations.
