Earlier this year, the Equally Well backbone team completed a self-assessment to reflect on our functioning and to inform future planning. Two assessments were used based on the Tamarack Institute’s and FSG’s ‘components of success’ checklists. The results indicate that the understanding of the problem Equally Well faces, is well publicised and supported by members of the collaborative.

The Ministry of Health’s cancer action plan was published in February 2020. We were really pleased that Equally Well champions were able to make an impact on the published plan.

Whitireia NZ made formal commitment to Equally Well in 2015, joining others with the common goal of achieving physical health equity for people who experience mental health and addiction issues. The evidence base and principles from the Equally Well initiative are embedded into the theory content of the second year of the programme.

The Equally Well backbone team have been working to create a strategic leadership group. An interim group has been formed to oversee and help steer the collaborative through 2020 and to agree the terms of reference for the group for 2021 onwards.

Read the recommendations from a Taranaki DHB survey to analyse the Equally Well service provision in the area. The survey was used to inform Equally Well planning and to shape future provision and also had the benefit of raising awareness of the kaupapa and drawing attention to critical issues.
