Amanda Luckman

Lived Experience Project Lead

As a Lived Experience Project Lead, I bring both my living experience of mental distress and recovery and my professional experience to support the development of the consumer, peer support and lived experience workforce.

My living experience has taken me through the spectrum of mental health services in New Zealand, and I am deeply informed by that experience of service provision. I carry a profound sense of hope for people experiencing mental distress, as well as hope for the systems in place to support our whānau. I am passionate about working to see change in this area by supporting workforce development.

I have held a range of roles across both the NGO and government sectors. I began my career in mental health in 2006 as a peer support worker, and have since also managed a peer support team, been a consumer advisor, peer supervisor and project specialist. I have held roles at the Ministry of Health in mental health, including as a Senior Project Manager for mental health workforce.

The development of the peer workforce has become a particular interest for me, and I’m excited about the work Te Pou has planned in this area, and the opportunity I now have to contribute to this.
