Charito Tuason

Data Analyst

In my role I analyse data related to mental health, disability, and addiction to help ensure Te Pou can demonstrate the impact of its work. This means working across many projects and supporting different teams in the monitoring, research and evaluation of our initiatives. Part of my work also involves analysing relevant datasets like the NZ Health Survey and Programme for the Integration of Mental Health Data (PRIMHD) to build evidence to inform our work.

I have been at Te Pou since September 2011. I previously worked for an international non-government organisation (NGO) in the Philippines providing technical assistance to the Department of Health. Here I provided monitoring and evaluation support for programmes focused on the prevention of vitamin A deficiency, iron deficiency anaemia and iodine deficiency disorder. I particularly enjoyed visiting health centres in remote villages and engaging with health workers, mothers and children. It gave real meaning to the numbers.

I have a bachelor’s degree in statistics and Master of Science in Public Health (biostatistics) degree from the University of the Philippines. I love working with NGOs and supporting the work they do to help improve the workforce, service delivery and make a difference to people’s lives.
