Tena koutou! I am Kat Strambach, an Occupational Therapist and Health Improvement Practitioner Trainer currently based in Wellington. Originally from Austria, I relocated in 2016 and have since dedicated three days a week to working as a HIP at a GP practice in the Wellington CBD, serving 12,000 enrolled tangata whaiora. The immediacy and practical support inherent in the HIP role resonate deeply with me, and I find immense joy in empowering individuals without the constraints of appointments, travel, or costs. Recently culminated the HIP trainer pathway, I navigated the journey with the unwavering support of my employer, colleagues, and mentor, a HIP master trainer. This pathway has been a transformative experience, enhancing my competence and facilitating personal growth. The community of HIP trainers has been incredibly welcoming, and I eagerly anticipate the in-person connections to come.
