I'm Rowie a HIP and HIP trainer from Otautahi/Christchurch. I am also a Registered Nurse.

I have worked in a variety of areas including mental health and general practice. It was while working as a practice nurse that I noticed a genuine need for mental wellbeing support for Tangata Whaiora so was really excited to hear about the HIP role in 2019.

I initially started working as part of the Brief Intervention Team at Pegasus Health then in 2020 I completed the HIP trainer under the guidance of Patti Robinson, the creator of the framework we use.

I am now completing the HIP Trainee Trainer programme so I can support more people to gain the knowledge and tools that enhance their wellbeing. I love creating realistic plans with Tangata Whaiora to help them feel motivated and empowered.

In my spare time I love ocean swimming and second hand shopping. I dabble in a multitude of creative pursuits often inspired by my rummaging's.

I look forward to becoming part of the Te Wai Pounamu Team of Trainers working throughout the South Island and meeting new people to continue my own learning journey.
