Kia Mataara peer training programme

The second Te Pou-run Kia Mataara peer training programme for the Aotearoa consumer, peer support, and lived experience (CPSLE) workforce is coming up in Christchurch. Te Pou is partnering with Comcare for this transformative programme.

The Kia Mataara programme takes twelve weeks to complete and features:

  • two in-person workshops
  • five virtual workshops
  • reflective workplace practices and learnings
  • one-on-one professional conversations

Participants must be able to commit to the full programme. The in-person workshops will take place in Ōtautahi Christchurch on Monday 6 and Tuesday 7 October.

The online modules fall on consecutive Tuesdays:

  • Mod 1 - 21 October
  • Mod 2 - 28 October
  • Mod 3 - 4 November
  • Mod 4 - 11 November
  • Mod 5 - 18 November

Other dates:

  • Pastoral Care Session - 2 December, 10:30am to 11:30am
  • Professional Reflective Conversations (PRC) - booking between 8 December to 12 December.
  • Certificates and graduation - between 15 December and 19 December.

This training sits outside our funded work programme, therefore, there will be a fee to participate. The investment to complete Kia Mataara is $1060 pp +GST.

Participant requirements

To participate in Kia Mataara training, participants must meet the following requirements.

  • A minimum level 4 qualification in mental health and wellbeing.
  • Have lived experience of mental health and/or addiction.
  • Be currently employed in a consumer, peer support, and lived experience role.
  • Have the support of your employer to attend the training and apply what you have learned in your workplace.
  • Be able to commit to completing all modules.

Te Pou is currently taking expressions of interest from people who wish to complete the Kia Mataara programme. Spaces in the programme are limited.
