Te Pou hosts monthly online learning sessions for primary health care nurses across Aotearoa, delivered by a skilled nurse practitioner on a range of topics. These lunchtime sessions (from noon to 1pm) are a relaxed way to build knowledge and gain practical skills in mental health and addiction support.
The first session for the year is on Thursday 29 January (12pm-1pm). This session offers a vital refresh on risk formulation, moving beyond "checking a box" to developing a holistic clinical picture. You will gain practical, actionable skills specifically designed for the fast-paced primary care environment, empowering you to confidently stratify and manage mental health risks.
Thursday 26 February (12pm-1pm) will include mastering a 10-minute mental health triage to rapidly and effectively assess whaiora needs, learning a toolkit of brief interventions for managing depression and anxiety and assessing risk using a clear, supportive framework and learn to implement basic safety planning.
Thursday 19 March (12pm-1pm) will look at co-existing physical health challenges and support.
