About The Salvation Army Wellington Bridge Centre
The Salvation Army Wellington Bridge Centre exists to provide safe, integrated, high quality treatment and support services to people whose lives have been affected by alcohol or substance use. Our services are evidenced based best practice and are known for being people-centred, caring, transformative and responsive.
We are looking to appoint a suitably qualified Addictions Practitioner/Caseworker or Social Worker for our Residential Programme based in Newtown, Wellington. Though not a requirement, if you have a special interest in working with whānau please also note that in your cover letter.
Key responsibilities:
- Provision of casework that provides integrated care for those experiencing co-existing problems of addiction and mental health
- Group facilitation
- Connection with tāngata whai ora, whānau and community services
- Working within the framework of The Salvation Army Bridge programme model of treatment
- Implementation of the Salvation Army Bridge programme policies and procedures
Person specification:
- Degree in addiction. An alternative qualification or an alternative relevant qualification such as social work, clinical psychology, or counselling, if there is accompanying evidence of understanding and work in reducing substance related harms
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Good cross-cultural understanding
- Dapaanz (or an alternative equivalent) Practitioner Registration
- Commitment to continuing professional development relevant to addiction studies
- Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment, sharing information, ideas and effective practices while maintaining client and service privacy, and confidentiality

Hours of work: This is a permanent, full-time role of 40 hours per week, however, part-time hours may be considered for the right candidate.
This role is covered by the social worker pay equity (SWPE) agreement. An experienced Practitioner can earn from $68,000 up to $102,000 per annum.
