Clinical Supervisor - CADS Pregnancy and Parental Services

Community Alcohol and Drug Services (CADS) is looking for a full-time registered health professional to provide clinical intervention and supervision for our Pregnancy and Parental Service (PPS) based in Point Chevalier, Tamaki Makaurau, Auckland.

About us

CADS provides free community and inpatient treatment from several locations across Tāmaki Makaurau, and are committed to empowering the community to reduce the harm associated with substance use and promote recovery and wellbeing.

PPS is a multi-disciplinary, regional team which works with pregnant people and parents of children under three years of age who are experiencing issues related to substance use. The whānau we work alongside are often disconnected from health and social services, and experiencing multiple and complex problems including family violence, physical and mental health issues, stigmatisation, inadequate housing, and socio-economic concerns.

The aim of PPS is to improve outcomes for unborn and young children using evidence-based interventions to positively impact and enhance their health and wellbeing trajectories. Our team is resourced to provide assertive outreach and spend time developing therapeutic relationships with tangata whai I te ora and their whānau. We use a motivational, strengths based and client-led approach; are recovery focused, and practice within a harm reduction framework. We also provide advocacy, service co-ordination and liaison, and robust risk assessment and safety planning, in order to support this priority population to make significant changes within their whānau and in their own lives.

About the role

This is a senior role which sits within the PPS leadership team. You would be supported to develop unique expertise and skills as well as using your existing skills to provide both ad hoc and scheduled clinical supervision. The role also includes supporting and orientating new staff and providing support and guidance for clinicians and peer support specialists in many aspects of their role. You would also work alongside a number of whānau in a clinical/case management role.

About you

We are seeking an experienced, registered health professional from a discipline such as nursing, occupational therapy, social work, or AOD clinicians who have leadership experience.

A strengths and equity focus with a commitment to working with whaiora from a biopsychosocial approach is required. You will have excellent clinical and communication skills as well as an ability to work autonomously, and accountably within a highly consultative team.

You will also have:

  • experience working in a community setting
  • full registration with professional body (nursing, alcohol and other drug, social work, counselling, psychology, occupational therapy or related fields)
  • equity focus and ability to implement Te Tiriti O Waitangi in your daily work
  • a full driver's licence
  • the legal right to work in NZ
  • excellent computer and time management skills
  • clinical experience in mental health and/or addiction field (preferred)
  • experience working alongside other health and social service providers, both governmental and non-governmental organisations (preferred).
