About the Role | Mō tēnei tūranga mahi
This is a full-time role based at Park Place, Whanganui. You will be working Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 5pm.
We’re looking for a Registered Health Professional – Social Worker, OT, or Registered Nurse preferably with experience in the Youth sector to join our Whetū Marewa service.
Whetū Marewa is a service that aims to build confidence, resilience and wellbeing in taiohi (young people), aged 12 to 24-years-old, who are living with mild to moderate mental health and addiction-related issues and social stressors. The mobile service has an outreach approach, providing support from registered health professionals and youth workers in schools and community clinics, and offering access to a range of supported interventions when needed.
In this role you will be working with a passionate and dynamic team of 2 youth workers and a Team Coach. As a Registered Health Professional some of your responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Supporting taiohi with their primary mental health in school or in the community
- Enhancing confidence, resilience and wellbeing in the taiohi we support.
- Supporting taiohi to re-connect with community services and take control of their own lives.
- Providing assessment and support using a range of evidence-based brief interventions.
You | Mōu
Are a registered health professional with a passion for supporting taiohi and keen to draw on your demonstrated experience in working with young people to support them to achieve better outcomes.
You will also:
- Have experience working in mental health and addiction settings or similar
- The ability to work well with other services such as Te Whatu Ora, PHOs, and the wider community and social sector
- Full New Zealand driver’s license
- The ability to cope under pressure and use own initiative when required in a flexible and changing environment
- A HPCAA recognised qualification and current practicing certificate
- A current first aid certificate
- Knowledge of, and demonstrable commitment to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
