Community Mental Health Nurse

Mō te tūranga | About the role

The Community Mental Health Nurse delivers recovery-focused, community-based assessment, early intervention, treatment, and support for Whānau Whaiora experiencing mental health and addictions challenges.

Working within a multidisciplinary team, this role provides Keyworker support and contributes to Whānau Ora outcomes by promoting wellbeing, resilience, independence, and whānau-led goals. The role supports whānau to access the right care at the right time through holistic, culturally responsive practice.

Kia ekena a angitū | To promote success in this role, you will have

  • Registered Nurse with a current New Zealand Annual Practising Certificate
  • Regulated under the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003
  • Full, clean New Zealand Driver Licence
  • Experience in mental health and addictions assessment, early intervention, and therapeutic support
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary teams and community-based settings
  • Sound knowledge of clinical best practice, risk assessment, and relevant legislation
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
  • Ability to effectively manage risk, prioritise workload, and work autonomously
  • Competency using client management systems and electronic clinical records (preferred)
  • Understanding of Māori health models, tikanga Māori, and culturally responsive practice (desirable)
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with whānau, stakeholders, and community provider
