Stepping Stone Trust (SST) is a Charitable Trust that offers a range of community-based support services for adults, youth and families who live in Canterbury and Dunedin. We operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, in providing a homely and supportive environment for tāngata to lead full lives. Growth over the past few years has prompted our organisation to begin a new phase of development that will take us into the future.
We have a permanent part-time clinical role available in our Crisis Respite service. Hours of work will be 9:30pm – 07:30am and will involve some weekend work.
Mō Te Tūranga | About The role
Within this role you will:
- Provide continual guidance and leadership to kaimahi across Christchurch SST services overnight
- Work collaboratively with rostered staff and Service Managers/Team Leaders across SST services
- Provide person-centred, trauma informed and recovery focused outcomes for tāngata, in a consistent and professional manner in alignment with the SST Code of Conduct and other applicable policies
- Maintain excellent professional and personal boundaries, valuing and maintaining the confidentiality of our tāngata, their whānau and your kaimahi team
- Understand the complex nature of the relationships we have with outside agencies and be able to communicate with Team Leader and Service Manager accordingly
- Be focused on tāngata within services, ensuring they receive safe care in a supportive environment
- Ensure that kaimahi handovers are completed in a professional and thorough manner and that Team Leaders and kaimahi are fully briefed and up to date
- Assist in the delivery of a service that honours Te Tiriti O Waitangi.
Mōu | About you
Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate the following competencies, abilities, and attributes:
- Ideally, you will be a comprehensive Registered Nurse in conjunction with experience in the mental health, health and/or addictions sectors
- Hold a valid/current Annual Practicing Certificate with the Nursing Council of New Zealand
- You have a compassionate and caring nature with good communication skills and a strong work ethic
- The ability to assess a situation and decide a course of action quickly
- A willingness to commit to and support the bicultural journey that Stepping Stone Trust is on as we live out our partnership under Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles
- Experience leading teams through rapidly changing circumstances and environments
- The ability to mentor colleagues within your team and organisation
- The skills to think “outside the box” and use your initiative when confronted with new or complex situations e.g. client risk situations and staffing shortages
- An awareness of community supports and agencies that are able to benefit our tāngata
- Strong organisational skills for managing your workload alongside good verbal and written communication skills
- A strong (intermediate) level of computer literacy
- Experience training, overseeing, auditing and implementing medication administration and management
- Experience managing the adherence to auditing and reporting of compliance requirements
- A full, clean New Zealand driver’s licence is essential.
