Enrolled Nurse - Medium Secure Forensic Intellectual Disability Ward

About the role

We are looking for enthusiastic Enrolled Nurse - with mental health or intellectual disability nursing experience to join our supportive multidisciplinary team.

Ward 10A is part of the Specialist Mental Health Services based at Wakari Hospital. Ward 10A falls under the Intellectual Disability Service and comprises of three parts, Ward 10a - a five bed Medium Secure Forensic ID Ward, Helensburgh Cottage - a four-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit and the Community Liaison team.

You will work alongside the multidisciplinary team comprising of:

  • Registered Nurses
  • Enrolled Nurses
  • Mental Health Assistants
  • Occupational Therapists
  • Social Worker
  • Psychologists
  • Psychiatrists.

Ward 10a is a medium secure five bed Forensic inpatient service for whaiora with an Intellectually Disability clients, aged 17 to 65 years, who are subject to the criminal justice system via the Intellectual Disability Compulsory Care and Rehabilitation Act 2003.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop your clinical skills, working alongside whaioria in a complex environment to meet their identified needs in a multi-disciplinary setting. The emphasis is on the delivery of safe whaiora focused care in a forensic setting, working closely with the Associate Charge Nurse Manager, Clinical Nurse Specialist and Registered Nurses within our service.

About you

As an experienced Enrolled Nurse, you will have a range of skills and the ability to work effectively to a high standard within your scope of practice.

To be successful in this role, you must have strong written and verbal communication skills, along with a passion for supporting people with an intellectual disability from admission to discharge.

You must also be registered as an Enrolled Nurse with NCNZ (Enrolled Nurse Scope of Practice, NCNZ, 2010) and have a current Practicing Certificate.
