About us
Whītiki Maurea is a Māori Mental Health and Addiction Service within the Specialist Mental Health and Addiction Services of the Waitematā District. We provide clinical care grounded in tikanga Māori, ensuring cultural safety and integrity in our engagement with tāngata whai i te ora and their whānau.
About the role
We are seeking a culturally grounded and experienced leader to join us as Team Leader - Te Pae Ahurea, leading our cultural support team.
This role provides senior leadership and oversight of our Māori Cultural team, and works in close partnership with the following:
- Our Operations Manager, Service Clinical Leader, and Kaumātua
- Clinical Team Leaders from MOKO (Adult Māori Mental Health) and Te Ātea Marino (Māori Addictions Service)
- Other leaders across Specialist Mental Health and Addiction Services, where our Taurawhiri are embedded to enhance responsiveness to Māori.
This is both a strategic and operational leadership role, based in Henderson and covering all Whītiki Maurea sites. The role includes cultural support within inpatient units and the regional addictions service.
About you
You will bring strong leadership capability, cultural depth, and the ability to work collaboratively across services.
You will have the following:
- A minimum of five years experience in staff management or leadership roles, ideally within a Māori context
- Proven ability to embed Te Ao Māori perspectives in health or community settings
- A sound understanding of Māori models of health and values-based practice
- Knowledge of mental health and addiction services (advantageous)
- A full New Zealand driver's licence
