CADS Altered High Youth Service has been at the forefront of providing youth focussed addiction services across the motu. We pride ourselves on delivering high quality addiction treatment that fits young people's lives and are passionate about improving and developing effective interventions. Join our team and meaningfully contribute to our kaupapa as you guide and advise the team, so that we keep young people at the heart of our mahi.
Who are 'Lived Experience' Advisors?
Lived experience advisors are people with their own direct experience of alcohol and other drug use, who can use that experience, knowledge and skills to contribute to the continued improvement of our services. They engage with young people and whanau who are currently, or have previously, engaged with services to ensure young people and their whanau have a voice in the planning, and design of our services.
As Youth Lived Experience Advisor you will:
- Work in partnership with the CADS Youth Team, with the support of the CADS Consumer Team, to help ensure our services respond to the needs of young people
- Provide CADS Youth Service with advice on service planning and improvements by listening to people's experiences and valuing their voices
- Identify innovations and make recommendations for service design, delivery or evaluation

- Solutions focus and an enjoyment in looking at how systems can work best for our clients
- Commitment to social justice, harm reduction, and client-centred treatment and recovery
- Resilience having worked through life's challenges and continue to use the skills and supports you have gained
- Good sense of humour, the ability to remain calm under pressure
- An established personal support system
- Cultural competence with a commitment to the Treaty of Waitangi
- Good time management
- Be able to legally drive in New Zealand without restriction
