Mental Health Support Worker

• Based in Paraparaumu, Kāpiti Coast
• Full or part time roster options
• Must have availability to work the full range of rostered shifts; mornings, evenings and overnight wakeover shifts.
• Availability for regular weekend shifts is required.
• $23.84 - $29.10 per hour depending on relevant qualifications

Mō te tūnga | About the role

IDEA Services runs a small mental health service offering supported accommodation to people with complex care needs and mental health support requirements. The team delivers 24/7 support and brings specialist training in both disability and mental health.

The service consists of six homes clustered in a welcoming neighbourhood near Raumati Beach. As a Support Worker, you’ll collaborate closely with local health and community services. You’ll work across the site, supporting residents to:

• Set and work towards personal goals
• Manage medication safely
• Build daily living skills
• Engage in meaningful activities and get involved in the local community
• Explore new opportunities for growth and independence
• Take an active part in decision-making

Experience in disability or mental health support is highly valued, however we are equally keen to hear from people who bring relevant life experience, resilience, and a positive, can-do attitude. If you’re motivated to build a career in support work, we’ll provide full training and ongoing development to help you succeed.

You’ll also bring:

• Flexibility to work a range of rostered shifts, including weekends
• A calm, patient approach and confidence supporting people with complex or challenging behaviours
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Comfort using computers and tablets as part of daily work
• Physical fitness to safely provide physical support when required
• A full NZ driver’s licence
