The Role | Mō tēnei tūranga mahi
Based in our Acute Alternative Hutt Day service, you will report to the Team Coach and be responsible for:
- Intentionally drawing on your Lived or Living Experience with mental health and/or addiction to support others on their recovery journey
- Using your Peer training and upholding Peer competencies/values
- Supporting tangata whaiora experiencing acute mental distress with high mental health support needs.
- Supporting and advocating for tangata whai ora with their mental health/addiction and social needs, both in their home and our community day space.
- Deliver a range of one-on-one and group therapeutic programmes of intensive short-term interventions.
- Medication support
- Closely work with clinical teams and whānau to support tangata whaiora
This is a permanent, 32 hour role. You will be working Friday to Monday, 12:30pm to 9pm. Based in Lower Hutt, Wellington.

We would love to hear from Peers who are at a place on their wellbeing journey where they are ready to support others on their journeys.
You’ll also have:
- Kia Mataara, Peer Employment Training or Intentional Peer Support Training
- The New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (NZCHW) Level 4, a recognised equivalent, or already working towards one.
- Knowledge of, and demonstrable commitment to, the principles of the Te Tiriti o Waitangi
- A current full driver’s licence
- A current first aid certificate or be willing to obtain one
