The Role | Mō tēnei tūranga mahi

As a Support Worker, you’ll walk alongside tāngata whaiora (people seeking wellbeing) in both residential and mobile community settings, supporting them to live the life they want.

We currently have several vacancies across morning, afternoon, and awake night shifts. Please specify your preferred shift in your cover letter.

In the role, you will:

  • Support tāngata whaiora to rest, restore and maintain wellbeing in safe environments
  • Walk alongside people to set and achieve their personal goals
  • Provide practical support with daily living (cooking, shopping, budgeting, healthy routines)
  • Encourage participation in community, work, study, and social activities
  • Support therapeutic interventions and wellbeing practices as needed
  • Maintain accurate records and collaborate with whānau, health and social services
  • Uphold Pathways’ values by working in a trauma-informed, culturally safe way

You | Mōu

  • Preferred applicants who hold the level 4 New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (NZCHW) or a recognised equivalent. Alternatively, you will be willing to commence study towards this within six months of starting your employment with Pathways. This needs to be completed within two years of commencement. Pathways offers significant support to complete this study.
  • You must hold a current full New Zealand driver’s licence.
  • You must hold a current first aid certificate or be willing to obtain one.
  • Knowledge of, and demonstrable commitment to, the articles of the Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
  • You must have the right to work in New Zealand
