Support Worker

The role | Mō tēnei tūranga mahi

We're seeking a new team member for a part-time position to work in our acute mental health crisis respite service, working alongside the crisis assessment and treatment team. This facility is located in a beautiful villa in Nelson and offers 24-hour care. We support individuals experiencing mental health distress that prevents them from staying in their home environment and you will play a vital role in providing short-term crisis respite support.

The shift is Tuesday and Wednesday 7am to 3.30pm in Nelson

You’ll also

  • Focus on the individuals needs and provide culturally safe practice
  • Complete relevant administrative tasks, take comprehensive notes, provide effective handovers to the next shift, and support and collaborate with your colleagues
  • Medication support when required
  • Supporting people with independent daily living skills – cooking, cleaning, gardening and everyday household tasks
  • To be healthier and set goals

About You | Mōu

For this role, you must hold a Level 4 Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (or an equivalent qualification). You should also have the ability to provide medication support with meticulous attention to detail. Additionally, you’ll align with our commitment to a recovery-focused approach.

You’ll have:

  • New Zealand Certificate Level 4 in Health and Wellbeing (or a recognised equivalent). Overseas qualifications must meet NZ equivalency.
  • Preferred mental health experience
  • A full New Zealand drivers licence
  • You must hold a current comprehensive first aid certificate or be willing to obtain one.
  • Applicants must have the right to work in New Zealand. This role is not supported under the AEWV.
