Role | Mō tēnei tūranga mahi
The role is on our awake night shift working 16 hours per week working Friday and Saturday, 11pm – 7.30am, based in Nelson.
Join our Waimea Residential Recovery Service as a Support Worker and offer support to people who are facing mental health challenges to live their best lives according to them.
The Waimea service supports high-needs guests on their mental health journey and can house up to 16 whai ora. This role is challenging but rewarding, offering the chance to make a real difference in people's lives.
You’ll also
- Focusing on the individuals needs and providing culturally safe practice
- Relevant administrative tasks, comprehensive notes and effective handover, and supporting and collaborating with your colleagues
- Support people with independent daily living skills. You’ll need to be prepared to support our clients to do whatever it takes
- While the people you support are asleep, you will be kept busy with other tasks like cleaning and supporting the day shifts with maintaining things like filing, first aid kits, emergency kits and preparation of paperwork
About You | Mōu
You’ll work in a recovery focused way and have impeccable attention to detail. You’ll also
- Preferred but not essential to hold the New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (or a recognised equivalent) or be willing to commence study towards this qualification within six months of starting with us and complete it within 2 years.
- You’re non-judgemental and have a genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of those we support, and are prepared to do whatever it takes
- You have high cultural competency, knowledge of, and demonstrable commitment to the principles of the Te Tiriti o Waitangi
- Hold a current full and clean New Zealand driver’s licence
- Hold a current comprehensive first aid certificate covering units 6400, 6401 and 6402 or be willing to obtain one within 3 months of employment
