Taiohi Ora Youth Wellness Clinician

  • Location: Taranaki - based in Ngāmotu

Mō te tūranga | About the role

The Taiohi Ora Youth Wellness Clinician provides strengths-based, culturally responsive support to taiohi (young people aged 10–18 years) and their whānau across Taranaki. Working alongside taiohi experiencing emotional, behavioural, social, or wellbeing challenges, this role delivers creative and flexible therapeutic support that promotes resilience, identity, connection, and long-term wellbeing.

This role focuses on early intervention and community-based support, helping taiohi and whānau access the right support at the right time while reducing the need for intensive mental health services.

Kia ekena a angitū | To promote success in this role, you will have

  • Registered health or social service professional with a current practising certificate
  • Qualification in a relevant therapeutic modality
  • Recognised by a professional body under the HPCA Act or equivalent
  • Experience working with taiohi and whānau in mental health or community settings
  • Skilled in therapeutic approaches relevant to youth (e.g. counselling, risk assessment)
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across sectors
  • Understanding of Māori models of health and Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • Confident with technology and client management systems
  • Clinical supervision or child/adolescent mental health training (desirable)
  • Experience applying Tikanga Māori (desirable)
