Position:
HIP Trainer candidate
Kia ora! I’m Courtney McLennan an Occupational Therapist by trade currently working as a HIP and HIP Trainer candidate. Born and raised in Southland, I am currently working as a HIP in an Invercargill GP clinic as well as our Youth One Stop Shop. I am working for Wellsouth PHO here in the south and really appreciate being able to collaborate with other HIPs and trainers through the country in sharing ideas, tools and support with each other.
I have previous experience working in child and youth mental health, where I started as a full time Occupational Therapist I 2017, before making the switch to primary care as a HIP almost three years ago.
The HIP role, and trainer role, are ones that fill my cup because I feel able to expand my reach in who I can help each day and can go home feeling as though I added something positive to my community.
I am passionate about working with our rangatahi, aiming to preventatively keep them well and thriving in our community.
