Workforce development

Workforce development is the set of activities required to ensure the future workforce is best able to deliver future services. To be most effective, workforce development should be underpinned by a workforce planning process. 

Te Pou has produced the Getting it right – Developing your workforce: An overview of a systems approach to workforce development to support organisations to identify the most useful activities in accordance with the Ministry of Health’s five domains of workforce development. The steps and principles described are relevant to individual services or groups of organisations by DHB-locality, regionally and nationally.
