2024 Health New Zealand Te Whatu Ora employee profile

Each year, Te Pou analyses information from the Health Workforce Information Programme about Te Whatu Ora employees working in all mental health and addiction primary areas of work, including workers in adults and children’s services combined.

This year’s report is presented in infographic format. It shows changes in the employee profile over 3 years, on 31 March 2022, 2023, and 2024. Key workforce development strengths include relatively strong ethnic diversity and experience for employees in most role groups. Supply challenges for workforce development include an ageing workforce and high turnover for allied health workers including addiction practitioners.
