2025 Te Whatu Ora employee profile report

Each year, Te Pou analyses information from the Health Workforce Information Programme about Te Whatu Ora employees working in all mental health and addiction primary areas of work, including people working in services for adults and for children.

The report shows changes in the employee profile over 4 years, from 31 March 2022 to 2025. Key strengths include relatively strong ethnic diversity and long experience for employees in most role groups. Supply challenges for workforce development include an ageing workforce, high vacancies for psychiatrists, high turnover for allied health workers, and lower than usual new entrants to the workforce.
