Understanding population mental health and substance use: An overview of current data

This brief report aims to increase awareness of the range of data and information available on mental health and substance use at the adult population level. It outlines what knowledge is provided by currently available data and its associated limitations. Information is summarised in relation to people’s experiences of:

• mental health conditions and substance use disorders
• mental health symptoms and distress
• problematic substance use.
