Te Mana Hononga: Haumaru and Rauora | Webinar 4

The Te Mana Hononga – The power of connection framework has been developed to support least restrictive practice in Aotearoa New Zealand.

Building on the Six Core Strategies©, this new Aotearoa-centric framework reflects the collective insights of tāngata whai ora, whānau, kaimahi, and sector leaders. Grounded in Te Tiriti o Waitangi, Te Ao Māori values, Pasifika models of care, and lived experience leadership, Te Mana Hononga framework places hononga (connection) at the centre of practice.

Te Pou is hosting a four-part webinar series to support the sector in understanding the framework and applying it in everyday mahi. The webinar series is designed to support services and kaimahi to build confidence in applying the framework in real-world settings.

The series includes an introductory session, followed by three interactive webinars. Each session pairs rautaki from the framework and explores how they can be applied in practice to support safer, more equitable, and mana-enhancing care.

Webinar 4: Haumaru and Rauora explores harm reduction, de-escalation, and restorative approaches.

Who should attend?

The webinars are relevant for kaimahi who work in inpatient settings and connected community settings:

  • clinical and non-clinical staff
  • peer and lived experience workers
  • cultural leaders and advisors
  • team leaders, managers, and service leaders
  • quality, safety, and equity leads.

Webinar attendance

Attendance at all four webinars is strongly recommended, as each session builds on the previous one and supports a shared understanding of the full Te Mana Hononga framework. You must register to attend each webinar.

Permission to record

Please note that the webinars will be recorded and edited into a short video resource to be made available on the Te Pou website. Participants’ images and voices will not be recorded. If facilitators refer to webinar chat, first names may be used in discussion.
