Tāku Reo, Tāku Mauri Ora tool - factsheet

Tāku Reo, Tāku Mauri Ora - My Voice, My Life is a tāngata whai ora self-assessed outcomes measure developed for tāngata whai ora by tāngata whai ora.

The development of the measure was led by Case Consulting. The measure and report are available for download and are freely available for use.

The measure has 65 questions. They are divided among 11 domains associated with service user recovery.

There are a further 14 questions for Maori tāngata whai ora. The domains reflect areas that tāngata whai ora across various cultures identified as important for recovery. Some examples are relationships, day-to-day life, physical health and culture.

It was designed for use by adults with experience of mental illness. It can be completed independently or with someone helping. Tāngata whai ora can complete it on a number of occasions over time. This may assist personal reflection and recovery planning.

Some work has been done on reliability and validity in a convenience sample of service users. However, the tool has not yet been validated as an outcome measure. Tāku Reo, Tāku Mauri Ora requires further testing, to assess sensitivity to change and use in community settings.
