Māhuri Tōtara national support worker summit grant

About the grant

This grant will help cover the costs to attend either the Māhuri Tōtara national support work summit in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland or Ōtautahi Christchurch. Organisations must apply on behalf of their kaimahi.

Grant applications

Applications for travel grants for the Tāmaki Makaurau summit have now closed.

Applications for travel grants for the Ōtautahi Christchurch summit opened on Friday 1 March and will close on Tuesday 30 April 2024.

We recommend submitting your application on our online grants portal at least 3-7 days before closing time. Your organisation can register in our portal at any time, and it will save your details.

You can expect to hear back from us with the outcome within two weeks of the grant round closing.

Who can apply

Attendance for the summit is open to support workers and cultural kaimahi working in support worker roles. Attendees must have the approval of their direct manager and be supported by the organisation. Applications for travel grants need to be made by an organisation who would like their kaimahi to attend the event.

How the grant can be used

The grant contributes to the costs of attending Māhuri Tōtara. This may include:

  • Flights
  • Accommodation
  • Petrol and taxis

The grant does not cover the service back-filling or wages of the applicant.

How much can be funded

Applicants can be funded up to $750 per person which may cover costs for flights, accommodation, and transport to attend the summit. Any other expenses will be considered on a case-by-case basis. There is a limit of $1500 per organisation.
