Consumer, Peer Support and Lived Experience (CPSLE) Training and Professional Development Grant

About the grant

This is a training and professional development grant specifically for consumer, peer support and lived experience (CPSLE) workers in mental health and addiction.

The grant will help cover the costs to take part in a learning activity (course or training programme) for existing CPSLE workers to develop professional knowledge and skills that enhance their CPSLE role or career. This may include reference to either or both the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi or the CPSLE competencies.

Grant applications

Applications for the CPSLE Training and professional development grants will open on Tuesday 30 January and close at midday on Friday 1 March 2024.

Applications can only be made online through our online grants portal. We recommend you submit your application at least 3 to 7 days before the closing date of 1 March. You can register in our portal at any time, and it will save your details.

You can expect to hear back from us with the outcome within 10 working days after the grant closes.

Who can apply

Individuals who currently work in a consumer, peer support and lived experience (CPSLE) role in mental health and addiction. Applicants must have the support of their organisation to attend the training course (a letter of support will be required).

How the grant can be used

The grant covers the costs of the applicant taking part in a relevant learning activity for existing CPSLE workers to develop professional knowledge and skills that enhance their CPSLE role or career. This may be through: increased knowledge, understanding and application of Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles; increased cultural responsivity/competence; alignment with the CPSLE competencies; or a combination of these elements.

The grant can be used for:

  • course fees
  • related resources and course materials (eg workbooks)
  • a contribution towards travel and accommodation costs.

The CPSLE training and professional development grant does not cover the employer back-filling or wages of the applicant.

How much can be funded

  • Applicants can be funded up to a maximum of $3,000 (GST inclusive).

  • Multiple applications can be submitted by the same applicant, but a separate application must be received for each learning activity.

  • If a learning activity costs more than $3000, applicants may apply for Te Pou to fund the partial cost of the learning activity up to this amount

Grant priorities
